The MED basin has been home to the longest record of prospering civilizations, partially due to its moderate climate and stable water resources throughout the Holocene. Today in the Anthropocene, this has dramatically changed, with increased climate fluctuations generating extreme drought and flood events that severely impact the basin water resources forecast for the upcoming decades. OurMED is a significant step toward constraining the uncertainties associated with water management in this rapidly changing environment.

The Mediterranean Basin is home to some of the most water stressed countries worldwide. The OurMED project aims to help better mitigate the effects of global changes on these phenomena, through the promotion of the conservation and restoration of water-related ecosystems as Nature-based Solutions to improve water availability and quality to the benefit of socio-economic sectors and nature.

In OurMED, we capitalize on the best practices and innovations from other PRIMA projects, fostering synergies with existing Euro-Mediterranean water initiatives. Emphasizing project sustainability, we promote the exploitation of our products through innovative business models, committed to building upon successes for a thriving Mediterranean region.
